Jadeite Lake is located on the eastern edge of Gasi Lake, southwest of Huatugou Town in the Malan Administrative Committee. It is about 32 kilometers away from the government seat, bordered by the towering Kunlun Mountains to the south and the Altun Mountains to the north. It is a rich and beautiful man-made salt lake. The total area of the salt lake is about 26 square kilometers, and it belongs to the magnesium sulfate subtype salt lake. The bottom layer is made of rock salt, generally 5 meters thick, with the thickest part reaching 9.68 meters. The lake abounds in salts such as lithium, potash, and mirabilite. The high-concentration brine in these salt ponds of varying sizes, shapes, and depths is locally known as "brine." These pits were formed from years of salt lake mining, and the different mineral concentrations create a colorful scene.
When we went there, it cost 10 yuan per car, and you could drive in and explore it yourself. This is not a fully developed tourist area, as its main industry is still salt production.
