Namtso and Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains

Finding this location on a satellite map, Gaxiong Village on the west side of Namtso, you can capture both Namtso and the Nyenchen Tanglha mountain range in one shot.

However, this location is really off the beaten path, with indeed no tourists in sight. It took several hours on a bumpy road just to get in and out. Near the lake area, the road turned into a small path only used by local herdsmen.

We found a place to park near the village and walked to the lakeside because the entire lake is surrounded by barbed wire, making it inaccessible for cars.

At 4800 meters above sea level, hiking is not so easy as we realized after covering two kilometers and finding ourselves extremely exhausted. We had to resort to flying a drone to take a few pictures.

The Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain is right across the lake and is indeed very magnificent.
