The ruins of the Guge Kingdom and Zanda County

Since entering the Ali region, the altitude has basically been above 4,000 meters. Suddenly arriving at Zanda County at an elevation of 3,700 meters feels somewhat comfortable.

Zanda County is dry and warm; it doesn't feel like Ali but more like Xinjiang.

The Guge ruins are not far west of the county town. The entire city is built on a mountain top, with people's residences arranged from top to bottom according to social status.

It's still hard to imagine that in this so-called most remote place, they could actually come into contact with Portuguese missionaries. Is this not a form of Han-centric thinking? Although Ali is far from the inland, it is very close to India and Central Asia.
