Aba County is located in Aba Prefecture, but it is not the capital of the prefecture.

It is home to five sects: Gelug, Sakya, Bon, Jonang, and Nyingma, which is rare in Tibetan regions.

My understanding of Aba County is mainly from the self-immolation incidents by monks a few years ago, with Kirti Gompa in Aba County often appearing in the news.

However, what surprised me was Gemo Monastery, which initially did not have high expectations but left me awestruck.

This is a very new monastery, with an elevator in the main hall even. Unlike the generally dim interiors of ancient temples, Gemo Monastery is a completely modern building. It also houses various rare treasures.

I have always wondered why a subsidiary of Labrang Monastery could have so much money, just out of pure curiosity. If anyone knows, please share in the comments.
